The BORA brand
Ringing in the end of the extractor hood - that was the vision that BORA founder Willi Bruckbauer had in 2006. An innovative vision quickly became reality. After the trained master carpenter developed his first cooktop extractor system, he founded BORA Lüftungstechnik GmbH with one employee a year later. Another year later, the company brought its first cooktop extractor and the first cooktops onto the market. The BORA Professional series was born. The company has been growing steadily ever since.
Today, it employs over 200 people and sells its products in 58 countries. The range mainly consists of cooktops with integrated extractor hoods. In terms of design and function, you can choose from the product lines BORA Professional 2.0, Professional 3.0, BORA Basic, the two new products from 2019, the BORA Classic 2.0 and BORA Pure, the new product for 2020 BORA X Pure, the compact cooktop extractor BORA S Pure (2021) and the BORA M Pure (2024), which we will introduce to you further down in this article. In 2021, the German kitchen appliance brand is expanding its range to include an innovative steam oven ("BORA X BO") and a practical warming drawer (the BORA multi-drawer in two sizes). In 2024, even more appliances will be coming to the BORA kitchen: refrigerator, vacuum sealer, lighting, ... So now an all-round kitchen appliance set.
This is how the BORA cooktop extractor works
But what makes the BORA brand cooktops so special? The products from the Upper Bavarian company are based on the patented and innovative air technology of the extractor hoods integrated into the cooktop. These extract the cooking fumes exactly where they arise - directly at the pot.
When developing this special technology, Bruckbauer was guided by the basic principles of fluid dynamics from applied physics: the cross flow is greater than the rising speed of the cooking fumes. This makes it easier to extract the cooking fumes where they arise - directly at the cooktop. BORA extractor hoods extract downwards at a speed of around 4 meters per second. Odor and grease particles also have no chance of spreading throughout the room. Because they are trapped in the stainless steel filter inside the extractor.

BORA Professional 2.0
BORA Professional 2.0 is an electric cooktop extractor with integrated operating instructions and a modular high-end system. The wide extractor hood has a cover flap that opens automatically when switched on and closes when switched off. The cooking fumes are not only extracted by filters, the fat is also collected in a drip tray under the filters.
The cooking area can be operated using intelligent knobs made of high-quality stainless steel in combination with touch control panels. This can be used to activate functions such as precise temperature control or the keep-warm function.
The BORA cooktop has an extra depth of 54 cm, making it one of the largest cooktops currently available on the market.
BORA Professional 3.0
At the end of 2020, BORA will present its third revision of the classic. BORA Professional 3.0 now expands the German brand's popular cooktop extractor.
The understated stainless steel control knob with a black glass front and sensitive touch surface looks particularly modern on this BORA cooktop. A white, razor-sharp LED display does the rest. The stainless steel ring is also removable, which increases the touch surface even further.
Otherwise, the Professional 3.0 induction cooktop is similar to the Professional 2.0. The wide extractor hood with cover flap is still located in the middle of the cooktop and opens automatically when switched on and closes automatically when switched off. Thanks to the extra-deep cooking surfaces measuring 54 cm, the BORA Professional is still a large induction cooktop with extractor hood.

BORA Basic
With BORA Basic you get a hob with a hob extractor as a compact system. It is available in three versions: hyper glass ceramic hob, induction hob, surface induction hob.
In the hyper glass ceramic version, the radiant heater has an increased power of 3000 watts. This shortens the boiling time by 30%, for example. With its compact size, the BORA Basic hob fits in almost every kitchen, so it is literally an absolute basic. In addition, the two cooking zones can be connected via a bridge function, giving you even more options for cooking.
The BORA Basic has a centrally positioned hob extractor with two fans inside. It is operated via a central touch display.
BORA Classic
The BORA Classic range was launched in a revised form in 2019. Version 2.0 has an optimized operating and control concept. All important functions can be operated with just one touch of a button. BORA calls this function sControl+. A vertical slider with a ground recess acts as a haptic element for intuitive and precise control.
The BORA Classic 2.0 cooktop has a wide, easily accessible inlet opening, surface induction and is available as a modular system (can be combined with a glass ceramic wok and Tepan stainless steel grill, see below). Special features include automatic extraction performance, which is based on cooking behavior, intelligent lighting and precise temperature control.
BORA Pure
The BORA Pure induction hobs have a minimalist design and a flush-mounted round inlet nozzle with eight ring-shaped spokes, which is available in bright colors. The nozzle is a central point in the hob. Not only does it draw in the cooking fumes, it also contains the filters. Among other things, the activated carbon filter, which neutralizes the odors. The filters can be removed from above for cleaning and replacement and cleaned in the dishwasher. The integrated recirculation filter unit, together with the low device height of less than 200 mm, also allows for maximum storage space under the hob. A special feature that distinguishes BORA hob extractors from other manufacturers' hob extractors.
The extractor is particularly quiet thanks to the new B4 generator hob technology, optimized air flow and a low-noise fan. It is also automatically regulated. The extraction power automatically adapts to your cooking behavior. The BORA Pure cooktop extractor can be operated centrally via a red vertical slider (sControl) and is invisible in standby mode. This gives the cooktop an elegant Black Vision effect.
Like all other products from the brand, the BORA Pure is available as an exhaust air or recirculation version and offers space for four pots up to 24 cm in size.
BORA X Pure
In 2020, the BORA Pure was improved once again. The X Pure is coming onto the market. Like its predecessor, theBORA X Pure cooktop has a round inlet nozzle. However, not with ring-shaped spokes, but with individual elements. By adjusting them, these small elements in the extractor always look different.
The X Pure also has a more modern user interface with a white and blue display. Important aspects are brightly illuminated here. Unimportant things are shown darker and move into the background. The control slider is almost completely invisible in standby mode.
Also new is the surface induction with two 230 x 230 mm cooking zones. They can be easily connected to form a large area - via the integrated bridge function.
The BORA X Pure has been available in matt or glossy since 2024.
BORA S Pure
Part of the BORA hob family since 2021: The BORA S Pure. It is a small 60 cm wide hob with an integrated extractor hood and, thanks to its compact dimensions, also fits in small kitchens.
Four asymmetrically arranged induction surfaces still enable flexible cooking with all common cooking sizes. As with the BORA Pure, the inlet nozzle is round and available in different colors.
BORA M Pure
The newest member of the BORA hobs is the BORA M Pure hob (available from 2024). It combines two types of induction in one hob: zone induction on the left and surface induction on the right. In between is the typical round and colorful BORA Pure extractor hood with a vertical touch slider in a white display.
BORA accessories for the hobs
BORA not only offers hobs with extractor hoods, but also suitable accessories for the hobs.

Tepan stainless steel grill
The BORA stainless steel grill is made of pure brushed stainless steel. The continuous plate has an extra depth of 54 cm and offers space for up to eight steaks. It consists of two cooking zones as a full-surface grill, which can be regulated independently of each other. The advantage of the grill plate is that it distributes the temperature evenly and ideally distributes and stores the heat. According to the manufacturer, you can heat it up to 250° in less than five minutes. This makes the Tepan stainless steel plate from BORA perfect for grilling meat and vegetables.

Glass ceramic wok
The BORA wok hob made of induction glass ceramic is ideal for preparing Asian dishes. It has a concave three-dimensional recess that ensures even heating. With the help of the finely adjustable power up to the power level of 3000 watts, you can set the temperature ideally. Due to the high temperatures, however, you should only use a wok that loses its magnetic properties at high temperatures. Ask us if you have any further questions.

Grill pan
The BORA hob accessories also include a grill pan made of cast aluminum with side handles, flat inside and without a grill grate. It has a high-quality non-stick coating that allows you to prepare healthy and low-fat recipes. In addition, the BORA grill pan is not only suitable for the surface induction hob, but also for use in the oven. At 469 mm x 270 mm x 60 mm (width x height x depth), it fits perfectly in the BORA oven. The grill pan can be heated up to 250° C.
Bora pots and pans
Bora pots and pans are also available to match the Bora hob (BORA Pots and Pans). With an innovative tilting lid to match the hob extractor. The cookware is available in two colors: black and stainless steel.
BORA extractor hood with exhaust air or recirculation?
BORA cooktops with extractor hoods can be purchased with exhaust air or recirculation. With cooktop extractors with exhaust air, the cooking fumes are directed outside in an energy-saving manner. This is done via fans, the BORA Ecotube duct system and the BORA 3box wall box. This means that less warm room air escapes, which ultimately saves energy. With recirculation technology, cooking smells are removed by recirculation filters. We have explained exactly how the recirculation and exhaust air technology works with extractor hoods in our article "The extractor hood. Quiet. Modern. Powerful."
BORA cooktop extractor vs. cooker hood
Here is a small comparison between a BORA cooktop extractor and a classic cooker hood in the categories of effectiveness, noise and cleaning.
Effectiveness & functionality: An extractor hood in the hob works more effectively than conventional extractor hoods. According to the manufacturer, a BORA hob extractor achieves a clean rate of 100 percent at head height. Apart from that, you also don't have an annoying extractor hood in your kitchen and therefore have a clear view. This gives you free options when planning your kitchen. And creates an image of a modern kitchen.
Noise: The BORA cooktops with extractor hoods are also particularly quiet. At the highest setting, the extractor produces a noise level that, according to the manufacturer, is quieter than frying a steak. No comparison to the noise level of 70 dB that conventional extractor hoods have.
Cleaning & Material surface: You can easily open the extractor hood for cleaning, without any tools. The filters can be easily removed and cleaned in the dishwasher. Another advantage is that only the purest materials are used. You get products made of pure stainless steel and with heavy metal-free glass ceramic from SCHOTT®.
