Ice Cream Recipes
If you want to make your own ice cream, you need an ice cream maker. Or the Smeg Retro Food Processor with an ice cream insert. It works similarly to a classic ice cream maker from Ninja and the like and is our favorite all-round kitchen helper, capable of mixing dough, making pasta, or creating your own ice cream recipes.

Strawberry Ice Cream
Smeg food processor + ice cream maker insert, saucepan, and hand blender.
First, chill the Smeg ice cream maker insert in the freezer for approximately 18 hours. For the strawberry ice cream, heat 180 ml of whole milk, 100 g of sugar, and 80 ml of cream in a saucepan, then stir in 30 g of skimmed milk powder. Puree 210 g of strawberries and add them, mix well, and pour into the ice cream maker insert. Make ice cream with the Smeg food processor on the lowest setting for approximately 20 minutes. Place in the refrigerator briefly to cool.

After Eight Ice Cream with Mint
Smeg food processor + ice cream maker insert, blender.
Mix 5 egg yolks, 60 ml peppermint syrup, 80 g sugar, 250 ml milk, and 200 g double cream. Add up to 15 mint leaves and let the mixture steep briefly. Pour the mixture into the Smeg ice cream maker and freeze according to the instructions. Stir in a few chopped After Eight chocolate chips just before the end.
Our tips: Make your own particularly creamy ice cream
- Finely puree the fruit: Without coarse fruit pieces/seeds, the ice cream will be creamier.
- Balance the sugar and acidity: Make the ice cream mixture a little sweeter, as the cold will soften the flavor. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to balance it out.
- Use cream or powdered milk: This makes the homemade ice cream creamier and less solid or crystalline.
- Pre-chill the ice cream maker insert: For at least 18 hours, this will ensure the ice cream cools faster and more evenly in the machine.
- Let the ice cream mixture cool down: Allow the ice cream mixture to cool thoroughly before using it in the ice cream maker.
- Stir in the toppings at the end: This way, they won't be ground up and will add a nice crunch to the top.
Sorbet Recipes
Sorbet is fruit ice cream made from fresh fruit and syrup. That's why, for our sorbet recipes, we naturally use the Smeg Juicer, a slow juicer that can make vitamin-rich fruit juice. It also pairs perfectly with the Smeg ice cream maker.

Mango-Lime Sorbet
Smeg Slow Juicer + Accessory (Coarse Sieve).
Peel four mangoes, roughly chop them, and place them in the Smeg juicer. Dissolve 100g of sugar in 100ml of cold water, add the juice of one lime and the mango juice, and place in the freezer for about 2 hours. Stir and return to the refrigerator. Repeat until the desired consistency is reached.
Watermelon Sorbet with Cherries
Smeg Slow Juicer + accessories (coarse sieve / fine sieve).
Place 200g of watermelon into the Smeg juicer. Juice using the coarse sieve. Pit the cherries and use the fine sieve in the juicer. Dissolve 150g of sugar in the melon juice, then add the cherry juice. Place in the freezer for about half an hour, then stir gently. Repeat until the desired consistency is reached.

Lemon Sorbet
Smeg Slow Juicer + Smeg Food Processor with Ice Cream Maker.
Make lemon juice from four lemons using the Smeg Slow Juicer. Add 100g of sugar and 200ml of water and mix well until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker insert of the Smeg food processor and freeze.
Our Tips: Making the Perfect Sorbet
- Use ripe fruit: They impart a more intense flavor.
- Sweeten well: Increase the sugar content, as cold reduces the sweetness.
- Add acidity: A squeeze of lemon or lime juice refines the flavor.
- Be patient: Pause while stirring to achieve a creamier sorbet consistency.
Frozen Yogurt Recipe
Frozen yogurt is frozen yogurt ice cream with a delicious topping, such as chocolate, fruit, or nuts. It can be prepared in the Smeg food processor with the ice cream insert, just like ice cream and sorbet.

Basic Frozen Yogurt Recipe
Smeg food processor + ice cream maker attachment, immersion blender.
Mix 500g natural yogurt, 100g sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Optionally, puree 100g fruit and mix in. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and prepare the frozen yogurt according to the instructions.
Our tips: Make your own frozen yogurt
- Use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar: It dissolves better in cold temperatures and creates a creamier consistency.
- Refine the flavor: Add more flavor by adding aromatic ingredients like vanilla or lemon.
- Whisk until fluffy before freezing: Makes the frozen yogurt softer.
- Use Greek yogurt or cream: This creates a particularly creamy consistency.
