The Company Novy

Since the company was founded in 1908, Novy has made it its mission to produce cooker hoods that are exceptionally quiet while still delivering excellent extraction performance. This mission has been accomplished.

Compared to conventional cooker hoods, Novy hoods produce significantly less noise. At the same time, their efficiency surpasses that of other grease filtration systems. From the very beginning, the hoods have been built with soundproofing and perimeter extraction. Novy describes its hoods as "a refined product with well-thought-out and advanced technology."

The Success Story of Novy

Today, Novy is a brand with over 150 employees. It’s hard to believe that this company actually started by developing bicycles and motorcycles. However, almost 60 years later, that business branch was completely abandoned, and the first cooker hood was introduced to the market. Because the technology was unique, the perimeter extraction system was patented in 1973, followed by the soundproofing technology a year later.

The Novy High'line ceiling hood was launched in 2006 and quickly became the market leader in this segment. Since then, Novy has increasingly focused on modern recirculation technology and developed a state-of-the-art monoblock carbon filter. This filter regenerates itself, providing even better odor reduction in recirculating hoods. The company is also proud of its first height-adjustable downdraft ventilation system.

Novy cooker hoods have two key features. They are equipped with perimeter extraction—more on that later—and they are among the quietest on the market. This has always been the case and still holds true today, as noise levels remain one of the most important buying criteria for customers. Two values are measured for each power level: the sound power level and the sound pressure level. These values are available for every hood, helping with comparisons to other manufacturers.

Edge Extraction

Many cooker hoods from other manufacturers use a central surface extraction system, which means the cooking fumes are extracted from the center. While this provides optimal extraction performance, Novy sees a drawback: the performance weakens significantly towards the edges, especially with 60 cm wide units and island hoods.

The edge extraction system was patented by Novy. It captures rising cooking fumes from the entire surface of the cooktop, extracting them primarily at the edges. Novy applies this technology to all its hoods, ensuring that no valuable energy is lost, particularly in exhaust mode. Even in recirculation mode, this system offers better air capture.

Thanks to Novy's advanced technology, air is captured at the edges at seven times the speed before passing directly into the high-quality, multi-layer metal grease filter. This filter should be cleaned regularly and can easily be washed in the dishwasher.

Monoblock Carbon Filter

This revolutionary carbon filter efficiently filters air contaminated at the molecular level and can be regenerated up to 12 times.

Inside the filter is a layer of millions of activated carbon beads, which effectively bind odors. With its water-repellent properties, it provides strong odor reduction, ensuring more efficient air recirculation.
