SMEG Brings 1950s Design Home

The Bertazzoni family, originally engaged in smithing, founded the company Smeg in 1948. The new family structures that emerged in the post-war era created new household needs, prompting Smeg to gradually develop into a manufacturer of top-class freestanding cookers. The kitchen appliances became showcase items and status symbols, contributing to a changed lifestyle. Over time, Smeg has expanded its product range to allow for a cohesive kitchen design, all featuring one of its unique styles. Today, Smeg operates 18 additional branches worldwide alongside its headquarters in Guastalla. The design department collaborates intensively with many internationally recognized architects to create true style icons with a successful blend of technology and style.
